history

Volksbank Solling eG emerged from the merger of several cooperative banks, the oldest of which was founded in 1886. In essence, the history of the bank is based on two lines that merged in 1993:

Volksbank eG Fredelsloh-Hardegsen-Moringen (1886 to 1993)

The first forerunners of today's Volksbank Solling eG were founded in the Hardegsen / Moringen area. In 1886, four founding institutes were brought into being: the Moringer Spar- und loan fund , the Hardegser Spar and loan fund , the savings fund and loan fund Lutterhausen and the savings fund and loan fund Hevensen . In 1894, the Fredelsloh savings and loan association followed . The savings and loan association Gladebeck - Harste was only founded after the First World War in 1920. However, a dairy cooperative had existed in Gladebeck since 1894 .

The first merger took place in 1946: the Lutterhausen savings and loan association merged with the Hardegsen savings and loan association. In 1954, the Gladebeck-Harste savings and loan association took over the Gladebeck dairy cooperative. The savings and loan fund Hevensen joined the savings and loan fund Hardegsen in 1962, and the savings and loan fund Gladebeck-Harste followed a year later in 1963.

At an extraordinary general meeting in 1968, the savings and loan funds in Hardegsen and Moringen decided to rename themselves Volksbank Hardegsen eG and Volksbank Moringen eG, respectively . The reason for the renaming was that another Volksbank wanted to open branches in Hardegsen, Moringen and Uslar.

After the conclusion of cooperation agreements between the banks in Hardegsen, Moringen and Fredelsloh, Volksbank Hardegsen eG , Volksbank Moringen eG and Spar- und Kreditskasse Fredelsloh eG merged to form Volksbank eG Fredelsloh-Hardegsen-Moringen , based in Hardegsen.

Volksbank Uslar eG (1895 to 1993)

The history of Volksbank in Uslar began on January 24th, 1895 with the establishment of the savings and loan fund, a registered cooperative with unlimited liability, to Uslar by 54 Uslar businessmen, craftsmen and farmers. The first office of the cash register was in the house of the first renter Albert Meseke in Stiftstraße 1. With the appointment of Albert Meseke as mayor of the city of Uslar, the business premises were relocated to the Uslar town hall in 1896 . After the death of the renter Albert Meseke in 1912, his brother Emil Meseke became the new manager of the fund. The business premises were moved from the town hall to house number 200 Neustadt, which also belonged to the Meseke family.

In 1922 the business premises of the cash register were moved back to Stiftstrasse 1. In 1923 the name of the cooperative was changed to Kreditbank Uslar eGmuH . With the resolution of the general assembly on April 4, 1937, the cooperative was converted from unrestricted liability to one with limited liability and the company name was changed to Kreditbank Uslar eGmbH . In order to do justice to the increasing number of savers, the general assembly decided in 1954 to change the name to Spar- und Kreditbank Uslar eGmbH , which came into effect with the move to the first own business premises at Langen Strasse 46 on December 21, 1955.

The first merger in the bank's history took place in 1960. At the general assembly on May 24, 1960, it was decided to take over the savings and loan fund Allershausen founded in 1908 . In 1967, the merger with the savings and loan fund Wiensen, founded in 1922, followed . In the future, branches were maintained in both places.

At an extraordinary general assembly on October 8, 1968, it was decided to rename the savings and credit bank Volksbank. However, the renaming brought some problems with it, as Volksbank Göttingen eG opened a branch in Uslar at the same time. An agreement was only reached after a two-year legal battle and the new name Volksbank Uslar eGmbH was entered in the cooperative register at the Northeim District Court on September 25, 1970 .

As early as 1969, the bank acquired the Neustädter Platz 36 office building from the Eisen-Franke company, which the company moved into on March 1, 1971 after extensive renovations. At the end of 1972, a decision was made to merge with the Fürstenhagen savings and loan fund (founded in 1922). In 1974, the Uslar customers of Volksbank Göttingen eG were taken over, which gave up their Uslar branch, which had only opened in 1969. At the beginning of 1979 the Volksbank opened another branch in Uslar at Isertor 1.

The next merger was decided in early 1987 and completed on January 1, 1988: Volksbank Uslar eG and Raiffeisenbank Uslar eG , based in Bollensen , merge under the name Volksbank Uslar eG. Raiffeisenbank Uslar eG was created in 1979 from the savings and loan banks Bollensen (founded in 1907), Eschershausen (founded in 1919), Schoningen (founded in 1889) and Vahle (founded in 1919) and brought five more to the five branches of Volksbank Branches as well as the merchandise business into the merged bank.

At the general assembly on May 20, 1988, two further mergers were resolved: On the one hand, the one with Kornhaus Uslar eG , effective July 1, 1988, and, on the other hand, the one with Raiffeisenbank Ahletal eG , based in Sohlingen , effective July 1, 1988 . January 1989. This increased the number of branches by a further three locations. The Kornhaus Uslar was founded in 1920 as a pure goods cooperative; Raiffeisenbank Ahletal eG emerged in 1981 from the savings and loan funds Sohlingen (founded in 1905), Schönhagen (founded in 1895) and Kammerborn (founded in 1919).

The next merger took effect on December 31, 1992: Volksbank Bodenfelde eG , founded as a savings and loan bank in 1895, joined Volksbank Uslar eG. In 1969, the savings and loan association Wahmbeck, which was also founded in 1895, was absorbed by Volksbank Bodenfelde .

Volksbank Solling eG (since 1993)

Uslar branch, Wolfhagen 1

In 1993, Volksbank eG Fredelsloh-Hardegsen-Moringen and Volksbank Uslar eG finally merged . The taking over institute was Volksbank Uslar eG, which changed its name to Volksbank Solling eG and moved its headquarters to Hardegsen.

The fact that the seat of the united bank in Hardegsen, Vor dem Tore 10, was taken was just received with regret in Uslar. However, the bank building in Uslar on Neustädter Platz did not have the premises that would have been required for the unified bank. It was only with the purchase of the former Küchemann inn on Wolfhagen on September 1, 1994 that the foundation stone was laid for an expansion of the bank's Uslar business premises. After a fundamental renovation of the building, the Uslar office was relocated from Neustädter Platz 36 to Wolfhagen 1. At the same time, the office directly opposite at Isertor 1 was closed. Despite the now expanded premises, the bank's headquarters remained in Hardegsen. As a concession for the "lost" headquarters, the office in Uslar has since been run as a branch under the company Volksbank Uslar, a branch of Volksbank Solling eG .

Also in 1994 a new building was built for the office in Moringen, Lange Straße 18, which was put into use on December 5, 1994.

The last merger so far took place in 2001: Volksbank Volpriehausen eG , founded in 1886 as Volpriehäuser Spar- und Kreditskassenverein , joins Volksbank Solling eG. The last independent credit cooperative in Uslarer Land with only one branch in Volpriehausen had been completely surrounded by its business area since the creation of Volksbank Solling eG in 1993 and had previously rejected any merger talks.

In 2002 the Sohlingen branch, which was the headquarters of the former Raiffeisenbank Ahletal eG until the end of 1988, was closed.

On December 31, 2009, the Bollensen branch, which was the main branch of the former Raiffeisenbank Uslar eG until the end of 1987, was closed. Declining customer numbers and necessary modernization measures prompted this step.

In March 2018, the bank announced that it would close the offices in Fredelsloh, Gladebeck, Schönhagen, Schoningen and Volpriehausen as well as the paying agent in Fürstenhagen in October 2018. In doing so, the bank reduced its number of locations by more than half from eleven to five locations, despite criticism from politics and the population.

Raiffeisen Adelebsen-Uslar

The Raiffeisen-Adelebsen Uslar GmbH based in Adelebsen is a joint subsidiary of Volksbank Solling eG and Volksbank eG Adelebsen. Both Volksbanks, which each hold half of the subsidiary's share capital, bundle their goods business in this one. Besides merchandise trading (trading with seeds , fertilizers and fuel oil ) at the sites Adelebsen and Uslar about four are also vending stations operated: two petrol and diesel stations Barterode and Schoningen, each with a customer card of Raiffeisen Adelebsen-Uslar GmbH and Girocard used as well as two diesel filling stations in Adelebsen and Sohlingen, which can only be used with a customer card.

history

At the end of September 2013 it became known that Volksbank Solling eG intends to outsource its goods department ( Kornhaus Uslar ) together with the goods department of the neighboring Volksbank eG in Adelebsen into a newly founded joint subsidiary in the legal form of a GmbH . However, the goods locations of both banks in Adelebsen and Uslar should be retained. While the general spin-off was decided at the corresponding meetings at the end of September 2013, there was initially still a need for clarification about the name of the new company. The name Raiffeisen Schwülme GmbH proposed by Volksbank Adelebsen was decidedly rejected by Volksbank Solling.

On February 6, 2014, the newly founded company was registered under the name Raiffeisen Adelebsen-Uslar GmbH, with its legal seat in Adelebsen. The official transfer of the goods departments to the new subsidiary and its operational start-up took place in mid-2014 with retroactive effect from January 1, 2014.
