Women's volleyball world championship 1960

The 1960 Women's Volleyball World Championship was held in Brazil from October 28th to November 15th . The Soviet Union won the title for the third time in a row. The games were played in Rio de Janeiro , Niterói , Volta Redonda , Santos , Santo André , São Paulo and Belo Horizonte .

The ten participants played in a group of four and two groups of three in the first round. The two best teams from each group made it to the final group with six teams. The results were taken against the direct competitors. The winner of this group became the new world champion. The other participants played in a group of four for positions seven to ten.
