Men's volleyball world championship 1960

The 1960 men's volleyball world championship took place in Brazil from October 28th to November 11th . The Soviet Union won the title for the third time. The games were played in Rio de Janeiro , Niterói , Resende , Santo Andre , Santos , São Paulo and Belo Horizonte .

The fourteen participants played in the preliminary round in groups of two and four of three. The two best teams in each group determined the world champion in the final group, with the results of the direct duels being carried over to the final round. The remaining teams played for places eleven to fourteen.
