1956 Women's Volleyball World Championship

The 1956 women's volleyball world championship took place in Paris from August 30th to September 12th . The Soviet Union successfully defended its title.

mode

The seventeen participants played in the first round in two groups of four and three groups of three. The two best teams from each group made it into the final group with ten teams. The results were taken against the direct competitors. The winner of this group became the new world champion. The other participants played in a group of seven for positions eleven to seventeen.
