Weld is a town in Franklin County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010 there were 419 inhabitants in 194 households on an area of 162.83 km².

According to the United States Census Bureau , Weld has a total area of 162.83 km², of which 154.10 km² is land and 8.73 km² consists of water .
Geographical location
Weld is located in southwest Franklin County on the border with Oxford County . Webb Lake is located in the center of the town . The surface of the area is very hilly. The 513 m high Houghton Ledges is the highest point in the area of the town.

history
The area of the later Town Weld was settled around 1800. Nathaniel Kittredge, Caleb Holt, James Houghton, Abel Holt, Joseph and Abel Russell were among the early settlers.
The town was organized in 1816, previously it was organized as Webb Pond Plantation . The name Weld goes back to one of the early owners of the original Grant . Originally the area called Township No. 5 Abbot's Purchase (T5 AP) , then it was known as Webb Pond , Webb's Pond, and Webb .

Buildings
In 2007, the Weld Town Hall was placed under monument protection and under the register no. 07000597 listed on the National Register of Historic Places .
Parks
To the east of Webb Lake is Mt. Blue State Park . It covers approximately 7,500 acres (3,035 hectares ).

The Maine State Route 142 leads north to south through the area of the Town. It runs along the east bank of Webb Lake . From the east, Maine State Route 156 joins Route 142 at Villages Weld.
Public facilities
There is no health center in Weld. Closest health centers and hospitals are in Farmington, Rumford and Dixfield.
Weld has its own library. The Weld Public Library is located on Church Street.

Weld, along with Chesterville, Farmington, Industry, New Sharon, New Vineyard, Starks, Temple, Vienna and Wilton, is part of Maine School Administrative District 9 , the Mt. Blue Regional School District .
