Geographical location
Roxbury is in the east of Oxford County and borders on Franklin County . The Swift River , a tributary of the Androscoggin River , flows south through the town's area. In the northwest is the Ellis Pond . In north-south direction, a range of hills runs parallel to the Swift River through the area, the highest point being the 654 m high North Twin Mountain .

history
Roxbury was initially called Township No. 7 Abbot's Purchase (T7 AP) and was organized as Town on March 17, 1835. Settlement of the area began around 1809. Some of the early settlers were from Roxbury, Massachusetts. The timber industry and agriculture form the economic basis for the residents.
A wind farm was established in Roxbury in 2012. It stretches over the range of hills that includes Partridge Peak, Flathead Mountain and Record Hill . It has an output of 50.6 megawatts and consists of 22 Siemens SWT-2.3-93 turbines.
