West Paris is a town in Oxford County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010, 1812 people lived there in 812 households on an area of 63.20 km².

According to the United States Census Bureau , West Paris has a total area of 63.20 km², of which 62.78 km² is land and 0.41 km² is made up of water .
Geographical location
West Paris is in the southeast of Oxford County. The Little Androscoggin River flows through the area of the town in a southerly direction. In the northeast is the Moose Pond . The surface of the area is slightly hilly, the highest point is the 459 m high The Pinnacle .

history
The land grant for Paris was given in 1771 by Captain Joshua Fuller and another 64 people from his company for their services in the Seven Years' War in North America . Settlement began in 1779 in the Paris Hill area. A first church was built in 1795. Paris was organized as Town on June 20, 1793, previously the area was named Plantation No. 4 known. After Oxford County was established in 1805, Paris became Shire Town of Oxford County's. The Paris-born Hannibal Hamlin was one of the most famous residents .
West Paris split off from Paris in 1957 and was organized as an independent town in September 1957.

The Maine State Route 26 runs north to south through the town. At Village Trap Corner , Maine State Route 219 crosses west-east .
Public facilities
Hospitals and medical facilities for the population of West Paris are located in South Paris, Norway, Canton, Dixfield and Rumford.
The Arthur L. Mann Memorial Library began in 1889 when residents met and discussed the possibility of starting a library. They founded the West Paris Library Association . The members had to pay an annual fee. In 1924 it became a free library. For a while the library was in the post office because the librarian was also the postmaster. She then moved to the hardware store when the librarian changed. She continued to move into various shops and apartment buildings until she moved to her present home, the Arthur L. Mann Memorial Library, in 1926. The property and start-up capital for the library were donated by the Mann family. It was designed by the architecture firm Gibbs & Pulsifer from Lewiston. An extension was inaugurated in 2010.
