action

In the former mining community of Hüttenberg in Carinthia , the 16-year-old daughter of the state parliament member Alois Prantl is found dead in the shaft of an abandoned mine. She is dressed in a white festive dress after she had previously celebrated around the Hüttenberger Reiftanz . The calm, reserved post commander Hannes Muck, who previously only knew crime from television, initially suspects an accident, although he finds a trail of blood in the forest. An autopsy is carried out in the state capital Klagenfurt , and a little later the shy and friendly provincial police officer Muck is confronted with the strict and cynical chief inspector Heinrich Plöschberger, who is supposed to clear up the case.

Muck suspects that the perpetrator could have been one of the petty criminals from the youth home in the neighboring village. The pathologist from Klagenfurt is of the opinion that the perpetrator must have known the open shaft, the murderer could be someone from the village. Post commander Muck soon realizes that all of his friendships are on trial. The reactions to the provocations of suspects and witnesses, which Chief Inspector Plöschberger distributes, have to take the good-natured Muck. One night the Hüttenberger village community thinks they know who the perpetrator is. Muck opposes the marching mob and thereby collects plus points from the home manager Susanne, with whom he is secretly in love. However, he has lost his post for the time being due to the influence of the state parliament member Prantl.

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv said that the film could also be read as a portrait of a supposedly ridiculous man, “as a kind of belated coming-of-age story. The setting: an Ösi biotope that the master knows how to authenticate without realism. The film language is withdrawn, the images that reflect the life of the humble hero have something austere and ascetic about them. "
