Wilfriede Günschel
Wilfriede Günschel (born February 5, 1937 in Weißenfels ) is a German opera singer ( soprano ).
Life and work
Wilfriede Günschel grew up in a musical family in Weißenfels. She received her first musical training in the church choir of the Lutheran and St. Mary's Church with Kurt Fischer and Wolfgang Semrau; the basics of playing the piano at the local folk music school. From 1954 to 1958 she studied classical singing and piano with Wally Geist-Frühauf and Hanny Bollmann-Kremers at the Conservatory in Halle / Saale .
In 1958 she made her stage debut as a bridesmaid in the Dieter Nowka opera Jan Suschka at the Cottbus City Theater . In 1962 the general music director Martin Egelkraut and the general director Gert Beinemann signed them to the Landestheater Altenburg . Her vocal subject ranged from lyric to dramatic soprano; her repertoire from opera and cantata to concert aria . In the Peter Gogler production (1967) Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg she discovered her affinity for the work of Richard Wagner in the role of Eva .
In 1972 Wilfriede Günschel said goodbye to her Altenburg audience and from then on worked as a freelance artist. She made guest appearances on the stages of the GDR , several times in socialist countries , Austria , Italy and the FRG . In Budapest she appeared with Franco Corelli on a live classical broadcast of the Budapest radio hosted by Zsuzsa Koncz . From 1974 to 1978 she sang the role of Helmwige in the Leipzig production Der Ring des Nibelungen .
In 1983, on the recommendation of her former singing master, the chamber singer Rudolf Dittrich , as well as the GMD Ude Nissen and Claus Peter Flor, she was awarded the title of " chamber singer " for her life's work .
Wilfriede Günschel was married to the author and editor of art and sports catalogs, Siegfried Seyffert (1934–2006). She continues to live in Thuringia after his death .
