Wimmelbach is a district of the Obernzenn market in the Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district in Middle Franconia .

geography

The Wimmelbach rises immediately to the west of the village and is a right tributary of the Zenn . To the east of the village lies the Bergholz , approx. 0.5 km northeast of Lengert , approx. 1 km northwest of Wolfsklinge and approx. 0.5 km west of the Silberleinswald . Approx. The Plattenhöhe is 0.75 km to the southwest . The district road NEA 17 leads to state road 2245 (2 km northwest) or to Unteraltenbernheim to state road 2413 (0.6 km south).

history

The place was first mentioned in a deed from the year 1294 as "Wymlbach" especially when Konrad IV. Of Nuremberg and his wife Agnes the Teutonic Order , the castle Virnsberg with Eingehörungen, including Wimmelbach, over appropriated. The place originally consisted of three large courtyards.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were eight properties in Wimmelbach (2 courtyards, 4 estates, 1 house, 1 community pastor's house). The high court exercised the Obervogteiamt Virnsberg . The Teutonic Order Coming Virnsberg held the village and community rulership as well as the lordship over all properties .

As part of the community edict, Wimmelbach was assigned to the Sondernohe tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Sondernohe , which was formed in 1811 . With the second community edict (1818) it was re-incorporated into the newly formed rural community Unteraltenbernheim .

In 1969 a weekend house construction area was designated. This is located west of the original place and bears the street name settlement and currently consists of 24 houses. On May 1, 1978, Wimmelbach was incorporated into Obernzenn as part of the regional reform .

The place has remained predominantly Catholic even after the Reformation. The residents of the Evangelical Lutheran denomination are parish to St. Martin (Unteraltenbernheim) , the residents of the Roman Catholic denomination are parish after the Assumption of Mary (Sondernohe) .
