history

According to Codex diplomaticus Anhaltinus , Wedlitz and Wispitz are mentioned for the first time in a document from Otto I , who gave four villages (villas) in Gau Serimunt , including Vitumilici and Wisepia, to the margrave Gero in 951 .

Otto III. settled a dispute between Wedlitzer farmers and farmers from Jesar , who had to drive their cattle over the Wedlitzer Anger to the Saale in order to get to their pasture.

In 1320 and 1330 there were very strong floods, so that it is assumed that the main arm of the Saale had changed.

In 1463 a ferry at Wispitz across the Saale is mentioned, later there was a boat crossing there. On January 25, 1475, Scholastica von Anhalt , Abbess of Gernrode Günther von Wettelicz and his heirs enfeoffed with 1/2 hooves of land and in the field of Wispitz and with 2 farms in the village, as well as 1 acre of land in the field of Wethelicz, as well as one Werder in the pasture at Baalberge .

In the records of the Nienburg monastery from 1563, the villages Politz and Lazetz belonging to Wedlitz were mentioned for the first time. Lazez was owned by the Nienburg monastery. To the east of Wedlitz, field names indicate the location of the village. Politz, also belonged to the Nienburg monastery. Politz was east of Wedlitz on the Rosenburger Feldweg .

The earliest parchment registers are available from 1597. The plague raged in Wedlitz, Wispitz and the entire area in 1611. Around 70 people died in Wedlitz alone. On January 14, 1636, the Swedes sacked Wedlitz in the Thirty Years War and on December 17, Nienburg and the surrounding area were attacked and looted by 150 imperial soldiers. On September 18, 1644, the Swedish army marched north on the right bank of the Saale towards Nienburg. The peaks advanced to Wedlitz, and the imperial troops advanced as far as the Wedlitz ford. The sentinels of both armies faced each other.

Wedlitz and Wispitz got a common preacher in 1811. In 1830 a flood in Wedlitz and Wispitz caused many houses to collapse and collections were collected throughout the country for the injured.

1860 Wedlitz as a Parish and Kirchdorf Saale, 1/4 hour from Nienburg with a school, 3 Ritter goods owned by the family of Stammern , 40 houses and 263 residents, 3 of which Anspänner , 14 Kossathen , 7 Häusler , 25 Tenants and 144 male and 119 female sex are described. They worked a field marrow of 2,664 acres of arable land, 335 acres of meadow and kept a herd of 31 horses, 134 cattle, 2347 sheep, 169 pigs and 16 goats.

At that time Wispitz was a church village on the Saale, the daughter church of Wedlitz with 1 school, 1 manor owned by the von Stammer family, 1 mill, 47 houses and 271 residents, 4 of whom were coaches, 17 Kossathen, 18 cottagers, 20 Tenants and 128 are male and 143 are female. Before the Reformation, the church in Wedlitz was a chapel belonging to Nienburg Abbey , and in the same is the vault of the former manor owners. In 1826 the farm buildings burned down except for the house and were rebuilt.

The approximately 400 year old parish farm, a half-timbered building, was demolished with all the associated barns. Between 1864 and 1867 the new church and school in Wedlitz were built as red brick buildings. In 1873 the villages of Wedlitz and Wispitz were protected against flooding by a dike . This dike has been renewed and increased several times to this day.

In 1889 the von Stammer family sold the farms to the Chamberlain von Wuthenau with "ducal consent" . This began with the renovation of the courtyards. The story of the von Stammer family in Wedlitz and Wispitz ends with this mention. The von Stammer family has exerted great influence over both places for centuries. On October 5, 1946 the land reform was carried out. In Wedlitz, the Haberland manor and the large estates of the Lucke family were expropriated and divided. Agricultural workers, industrial workers and resettlers generally received 8 hectares of land and 0.25 hectares of forest from the soil commission . Old farmers who owned less than 10 hectares of land could also borrow land from the VdgB and for a fee or in kind to the new farmers. In 1949 the machine lending station, machine tractor station and repair tractor station were established and allotments were created in both places. The land reform had a major impact on the townscape. The barn of the Haberland manor on Hauptstrasse and the cowshed on what is now MTS Strasse were demolished. The material was used to build the settlement sites that were created in Poststrasse and Siedlerweg.

In 1951 the company sports association "Traktor Wedlitz" is founded. The footballers have been participating in the "KFA Bernburg " competition since it was founded . Both villages celebrated the 1000th anniversary of the first documentary mention.

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Wispitz was incorporated. Through a district reform, Wedlitz was assigned to the Schönebeck district on July 25, 1952 . The decision was revised and the community was reassigned to the Bernburg district on December 4, 1952 .

On September 1, 1961, a school for grades 1–4 was set up in today's public education building, Hauptstrasse 12 in Wedlitz. It was closed on September 1, 1972 and students from the 1st grade attended the "Karl Marx" central school in Nienburg.
