Łęg Leśny ( German  Mittenwalde ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Szczytno (rural municipality Ortelsburg ) in the powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ).

Geographical location

Łęg Leśny is located in the southern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , right on the southwestern city limits of the district town of Szczytno ( Ortelsburg in German  ) and three kilometers from the city center.

history

The Forsthaus Mittenwalde with seven residents in 1905 was one of the living space for Gutsbezirk forestry Korpellen ( Polish Korpele ), later to 1945 for township Szczytno (Szczytno), in the East Prussian district Szczytno .

Since 1945 and the transfer of southern East Prussia to Poland in the aftermath of the war , the small town bears the Polish name form "Łęg Leśny" and is today a forest settlement (Polish Osada leśna ) within the rural community of Szczytno (Ortelsburg) in the powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ), to 1998 Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

church

Until 1945 Mittenwalde was incorporated into the Protestant Church of Ortelsburg in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Roman Catholic parish church of Ortelsburg in the Diocese of Warmia .

Today, Łęg Leśny belongs to the church, as before, to the district town: to the local Catholic parish, now part of the Archdiocese of Warmia , and to the Protestant parish in Szczytno , now located in the Masurian Diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

traffic

Łęg Leśny is located at the end of ulica Leśna (until 1945: Mittenwalder Weg ) that runs through the southwest of Szczytno . The next train station is the town of Szczytno on the Olsztyn – Ełk and Ostrołęka – Szczytno railway lines , which is only used from Chorzele .
