Nowiny ( German Neu Schiemanen ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It belongs to the Gmina Szczytno (rural municipality Ortelsburg ) in the Powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ).
Geographical location
Nowiny is located in the southern center of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship , seven kilometers south of the district town of Szczytno ( German Ortelsburg ).
history
The village of Neu Schiemanen , first mentioned in 1869 - with 398 inhabitants in 53 houses in 1905 - was a village in the rural community of Groß Schiemanen ( Szymany in Polish ) in the East Prussian district of Ortelsburg before 1945 . With the whole of southern East Prussia , it was transferred to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war and was given the Polish form of the name “Nowiny”. Today, with the seat of a Schulzenamt (Polish Sołectwo ), it is a village in the Gmina Szczytno (rural municipality Ortelsburg ) in the powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ), until 1998 of the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then it belongs to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship . In 2011 Nowiny had 326 inhabitants.
church
Until 1945 Neu Schiemanen was incorporated into the Evangelical Church of Groß Schiemanen in the church province of East Prussia, part of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and the Roman Catholic parish church of Ortelsburg in the Diocese of Warmia . Today Nowiny belongs to the Catholic Church Szymany in what is now the Archdiocese of Warmia and to the Evangelical Parish Szczytno , now in the Masurian Diocese of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .
traffic
Nowiny is located on the busy Polish state road 57 (former German Reichsstrasse 128 ), which runs through the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship in a north-south direction and extends into the Masovian Voivodeship . A side street from the neighboring town of Lipnik (Leipnik , 1938 to 1945 Jägerforst) ends in Nowiny. The nearest train station is Szymany at only from Chorzele busy railway line Ostrołęka-Szczytno .
