2. Basketball Bundesliga 1978/79

The 1978/1979 season was the fourth season of the 2. Basketball Bundesliga, introduced in 1975 .

mode

It was played in two groups, north and south, each with ten teams. In contrast to previous years, there were now two sure relegated players from the basketball league. The winners of the promotion rounds rose directly to the basketball Bundesliga. After a single round, the first four teams of a season played a two-pronged promotion round. The remaining teams continue to play a relegation round in their relay. In both rounds all points of the main round were taken.
