1973 the Torsky forestry enterprise ( Торский леспромхоз ) was founded in Agirisch , which mainly produced raw wood . The forestry company became a local building company and employed 1,600 people in the mid-1990s.

After the place became its own village soviet in 1974 , Agirisch received the status of an urban-type settlement in 1982.
