Albrecht Menzel

Albrecht Menzel (* 1992 in Radebeul ) is a German violinist .

At the age of four, Albrecht Menzel received his first violin lessons at the Radebeul Music School , and three years later switched to Andrea Eckoldt's class at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden . He made his first appearance in Italy when he was eight. At the age of 13 he made his solo debut at the Dresden Music Festival . Since 2007 Menzel has been trained by the music teacher Boris Kuschnir , who teaches at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz .

He played as a soloist with international orchestras such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra , the Munich Radio Orchestra , the Leipzig Symphony Orchestra , the Magdeburg Philharmonic , the Brandenburg State Orchestra , the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Sopot , the Silesian Philharmonic, the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra and the State Symphony Orchestra "New Russia "under the direction of Kurt Masur , Vasily Petrenko and Juozas Domarkas , in addition he had concert appearances a. a. in the Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle Hamburg, in the Musikverein Wien , in the Prinzregententheater and Gasteig Munich, in the International House of Music Moscow and at well-known music festivals .

As part of the Leipzig Mendelssohn Festival in September 2011, Menzel played Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Violin Concerto in E minor as a soloist under the direction of Kurt Masur . In 2014 Albrecht Menzel toured the USA and Canada with Anne-Sophie Mutter to concerts at Carnegie Hall New York, Kennedy Center Washington and Roy Thomson Hall Toronto. In 2015 and 2016 he played as a soloist with the artist a. a. in the Philharmonie Berlin , the Philharmonie Luxembourg , the Grand Théâtre de Provence and the Athenaeum Bucharest . As a chamber musician, Menzel played with Julian Rachlin , Jan Vogler , Gidon Kremer , Steven Isserlis and Igor Levit . In August 2019 there was the first edition of his own concert series Albrecht Menzel and Friends in the Kaisersaal zu Corvey .

Menzel is funded by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben .

Albrecht Menzel plays a violin by Antonio Stradivari (Cremona 1709), a fiduciary entry into the fund of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben from family ownership.
