The Pomeranian village Alt Schlage was founded in earlier times by the Wends and was once called Slawe or Slaw (= Slawenort, Slawenhaupt). It lies directly on the Rega , which until 1932 formed the border between the Belgard (now Polish: Białogard ) and Schivelbein ( Świdwin ) districts. In the 19th century, the Vorwerk Kurtshof and Neu Schlage (Sławka) belonged to the place , to which the heights of the Kiebitzberge (Czarcie Góry) connect with the 131 meter high stone railway.

Several different owners followed until after the First World War it came into the possession of the von Hagen in Langen (Łęgi) as an allodial property .

In 1939 Alt Schlage had 253 inhabitants in 63 households. The place was conveniently located on the German Reichsstraße 162 (today in the section of the Polish Voivodship Road 152 ) Schivelbein - Bad Polzin (Połczyn-Zdrój) ; Railway stations were Ziezeneff (Cieszeniewo) or Simmatzig (Smardzko) on the Reichsbahn line Schivelbein – Bad Polzin – Gramenz – Zollbrück, which was continued as a state railway line after 1945, but has since been shut down.

The district court responsible for Alt Schlage was that in Bad Polzin. The last mayor of Alt Schlage was Hermann Frank, the owner of the “Zur Linde” inn.
