history

The Altenfeld court was first recorded in 1715 in the map series Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Solingen , and named as Altenfeld . The farm belonged to the Ketzberg Honschaft within the Solingen office. The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 lists the place as an old field and the Prussian first survey from 1844 as Altenfels . In the topographic map of the Düsseldorf administrative district from 1871, the court is listed as Altenfeld .

After the Mairien and later mayor's offices were founded at the beginning of the 19th century, Altenfeld belonged to the Gräfrath mayor's office . In 1815/16 there were 24 people living in the village, in 1830 28 people. In 1832 Altenfeld was still part of the Honschaft (Ketz-) Berg within the Gräfrath mayor. The place, which was categorized as a court town according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf government district , had five residential buildings, two factories or mills and eight agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 36 residents lived in the place, six of them Catholic and 30 Protestant denominations. The municipality and estate district statistics of the Rhine Province list the place in 1871 with ten houses and 55 inhabitants. In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province in 1885, eleven houses with 65 inhabitants are listed. In 1895 the district had eleven houses with 70 inhabitants, in 1905 ten houses and 51 inhabitants are given.

With the town union of Groß-Solingen in 1929, the Altenfeld estate became a district of Solingen.
