Arsenjew ( Russian Арсе́ньев ) is a city with 56,750 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010) in the Primorye region in the Far East of Russia .
geography
Arsenjew is located on the Arsenjewka , a tributary of the Ussuri , about 300 km northeast of the metropolis of Vladivostok and 60 km southeast of the nearest city Spassk-Dalni .
history
In 1902, the village of Semjonowka ( Семёновка ) was founded by Russian settlers in what is now the urban area . In 1938 Semjonowka merged with neighboring villages to form a so-called workers' settlement, which was given city status in 1952. At the same time the place in honor of the Russian was ethnologist and geographer Vladimir Arsenyev in (1872-1930) Arsenyev renamed. The scientist had opened up the region on his research trips. In 1972 the formerly called Daubiche river, which flows through the city, was renamed Arsenyevka .

Economy and Infrastructure
Arsenyev is an important industrial location with the Progress helicopter factory (manufacturer of the Mil Mi-34 , Kamow Ka-50 , Kamow Ka-52 models ) and with mechanical engineering, wood and food production companies.
The city is home to a branch of the Far Eastern State Academy of Economics and Administration and a branch of the Far Eastern State Technical University. There is a regional road connection and a railway connection to Vladivostok via Ussuriysk .
