history

The first European to reach what is now called the Serebryanka Bay of the Sea of Japan was the French navigator Jean-François de La Pérouse in June 1787 , who named it after the naval officer Charles-Henri-Louis d'Arsac de Ternay (1723-1780 ) named as Baie de Ternay .

The place was founded in 1908 by Russian resettlers and named after one of the leaders of the Black Hundreds , Vladimir (Waldemar) Gringmuth (1851–1907) as Gringmutowka . In 1922 he was given the name Ternei-Morozovskoye. In May 1932, Ternei-Morozovskoye became the administrative seat of a newly created Rajon by decision of April 19, 1932. In 1938 the place was given the status of an urban-type settlement while the name was shortened to the current form, after the original name of the bay in Russian spelling.
