Sibirzewo ( Russian Сиби́рцево ) is an urban-type settlement in the Primorye region in Russia with 8,735 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

The place is about 130 km as the crow flies north-northeast of the regional administration center Vladivostok on the western edge of the Sichote-Alin , about 5 km from the right bank of the Ilistaya (formerly Lefu ). The Skotskaja and Monastyrka streams flow to the Ilistaja to the north and south of the settlement.

Sibirzewo belongs to the Chernigovsky Rajon and is located about 20 km southwest of its administrative seat Chernigovka . It is the seat of the municipality of Sibirzewskoje gorodskoje posselenije, which also includes the villages of Chalkidon (6 km north-north-west), Monastyrishche (adjoining to the east), Orechowo (9 km south-west) and Vysokoye (7 km north) as well as the settlements Sibirzewo-3 (3 km south-east , no permanent residents) and at the train stations Chalkidon (near Vysokoye), Orechowo-Primorskoje (near Orechowo) and Swetlojarowka (9 km southeast) belong.

history

The place arose from 1900, when the Monastyrishche station was opened there on the Ussuri railway Khabarovsk  - Vladivostok, which opened on this section on February 15, 1894 , today part of the Trans-Siberian Railway , named after the nearby village. In 1903 the station and the associated settlement were renamed Mansowka , after the Russified name mansy (Russian манзы , from Chinese 满 子 , Pinyin Mǎn zi ) for the Chinese population of the Ussuri region , which was customary into the 20th century .  

In 1933 a railway line was opened from Mansowka in a north-westerly direction to Turi Rog on Lake Chankasee (today shortened to Novokachalinsk ), and from 1940 another eastward, via Arsenyev to Warfolomeevka (extended to Chuguevka in the 1970s ). Mansowka had become an important railway junction, the settlement grew considerably and in 1944 received the status of an urban-type settlement.

When, as a result of the Soviet-Chinese border conflict of 1969, most of the geographical names of Chinese origin in the region were changed in 1972, Sibirzewo was also given its current name, after the hero of the Russian Civil War, Vsevolod Sibirzew (1893-1920), who was active in the Far East and shot there .

Sibirzewo has a train station at route kilometer 9108 (from Moscow ) of the Trans-Siberian Railway. There branch off branches via Chorol and Kamen-Rybolow to Novokachalinsk (127 km) and via Arsenyev to Novochuguevka (near Chuguevka, 163 km).

The federal highway A370 Ussuri from Khabarovsk to Vladivostok runs through the town .
