List of Biblical Books
This list of biblical books includes the books of the Bible . The arrangement in the Tanach and the Old Testament differs between Judaism and the major denominations of Christianity . For practical reasons, it essentially follows the Catholic and Protestant tradition. The Ethiopian Bible also contains a few other books such as the Book of Enoch (which is also quoted in the New Testament and found in Qumran ), for which various lists exist.
The respective Christian book names (column 1) are followed by their abbreviations according to the Loccumer guidelines widely recognized in Germany (column 2). Original Hebrew and Greek book names and variants are in column 3, translated if necessary. The contents (column 5) are largely taken from the Thompson Study Bible .
Books of the Tanakh without a note are common to Jews and Christians of all denominations. Special book divisions and books that only belong to the Bible for some Christian denominations are noted in each case (column 6). For these different versions of the Bible, see the Biblical Canon .
