Brandon Michael Green (born July 23, 1988 in Southfield , Michigan ), better known by his stage names Maejor Ali , Maejor and Bei Maejor , is an American singer-songwriter and music producer from Detroit . His singles can be assigned to the genres R&B , hip-hop and pop . Since 2015 he has been active together with the Dutch DJ and producer Martin Garrix under the name Area 21 .
Career
After graduating from the University of Michigan in 2008 he moved to Atlanta ( Georgia ) and joined the production team of Ne-Yo at. On August 4, 2010, he released his first mixtape Upside Down with guest contributions by Keri Hilson , Trey Songz , Drake and T-Pain . In the same year he was nominated for a Grammy Award for his work on Trey Songz's album Passion, Pain & Pleasure . In 2011 he was nominated again for a Grammy Award, this time for Monica's album Still Standing .
His single Lights Down Low , released in 2012, was used as the official soundtrack of the Boston Celtics in the NBA playoffs. In 2013 he released his most successful single to date with Juicy J and Justin Bieber with Lolly . It reached number 56 on the UK Singles Chart , number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and number five on Billboard Hot R & B / Hip-Hop Songs.
On April 1, 2016 he released the song Spaceships as a free download with Martin Garrix as Area 21 on his record label "STMPD Records" . Another production with the project is called We Did It and premiered at the Ultra Music Festival 2016. On May 20, 2016, another track was released as Area 21 called Girls .
So far he has worked for artists such as Trey Songz , Justin Bieber , Tinie Tempah , Keri Hilson , LeToya Luckett , Ciara , T-Pain , Ne-Yo , Wiz Khalifa , Tiësto , Three 6 Mafia , will.i.am , R. Kelly and Iggy Azalea wrote or produced songs.
