Career
The 1.88 m tall defender began his career at his home club, 1. EV Weiden , for whose senior team he was already on the ice at the age of 17 in the major league . Here the left-handed shooter played a total of 33 games in the regular season, the championship round and the play-offs and also played a few games in the jersey of the junior team in the Bundesliga, where he scored five goals and a total of nine points. In the following season Schopper got a permanent place in the second division squad of the EV Weiden and completed 42 games in which he was able to score one goal and four points. In addition, the defender was used in the play-downs in eight other games.
In 2004 , Benedikt Schopper was hired by the Hannover Scorpions from the German Ice Hockey League , of which he was part of the regular squad for long stretches, but also spent some games with a sponsorship license with cooperation partner REV Bremerhaven in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the 2006/07 season Schopper moved to the Mosquitos Essen , where he scored seven goals and 24 points in 50 missions. For the 2007/08 season , the defender signed a one-year contract with an option for another season with the Krefeld Penguins . The option was drawn early, so that Schopper went on the ice for the penguins in the 2008/09 season . In July 2009, the penguins announced that Schopper had extended his contract by two years and thus continued to run for the black and yellow. For the 2011/12 season he was signed by the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg , where his contract was extended for the 2012/13 season before they parted ways. For the 2013/14 season , Schopper moved to ERC Ingolstadt with whom he was able to win the German championship. After five years in Upper Bavaria, Schopper switched to the Straubing Tigers in Lower Bavaria.
