Career
Dunham already played ice hockey successfully as a teenager, but planned to take over his father's real estate business after graduating. However, the winger came to Germany through an offer and started a career as a professional ice hockey player. From 1993 to 1995 Dunham played for EV Dingolfing in the Regionalliga , which and its successor, the "2. League". The winger then moved to TEV Miesbach in the 1st League South . In the 1996/97 season, the left shooter was on the ice for ERSC Amberg in the 2nd division south , and a year later for the Braunlager EHC in the 1st division north .
From 1998 to 2001 the Canadian played for the Crocodiles Hamburg , initially in the second-highest German division, after relegation in the 1999/00 season in the league. In 2001 the attacker, who meanwhile also had German citizenship , joined the Straubing Tigers in the 2nd Bundesliga . With strong performances Dunham recommended himself in the following period for the German Ice Hockey League and hired for the 2002/03 season with the Frankfurt Lions . After a disappointing season with only two scorer points in 50 games, the winger returned to the 2nd Bundesliga and signed a contract with Heilbronner EC . Since the 2004/05 season Jason Dunham was again active for the Straubing Tigers, initially in the 2nd Bundesliga, after promotion in 2006 in the DEL. After the 2008/09 season , the German-Canadian ended his active career with the Lower Bavarians, but stayed with the club and took over the post of co-trainer and team manager from 2009 to 2011. In May 2011, Dunham succeeded Jürgen Pfundtner as sporting director of the Straubing Tigers. The contract was extended in February 2018 for a further three years until the end of the 2020/21 season.
Dunham is married and lives in Aschach .
