Bobby Bass

Bobby Bass (born August 6, 1936 in California , † November 7, 2001 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film and television actor and stuntman. Among other things, he was responsible for the stunt scenes in Steve McQueen's last film ( Every Head Has Its Price ).

Life

Bass, a graduate of Morningside High School in Inglewood, California, was a martial arts enthusiast. As a teenager he became a judo champion. At a meeting with the US judo champion Ivan Gene Lebell, Bass came into contact with the stunt scene in Hollywood.

Bass was married to Norma Collins, Ann-Margret's hairdresser . He died of Parkinson's disease in Los Angeles on November 7, 2001 . His children are stepson Colin Bass (born Colin Collins), bassist for the prog rock band Camel, and three stepdaughters (including American actress Bo Derek ).

Career

In his career, Bass doubled some of the Hollywood stars in a variety of film and television productions. B. Burt Reynolds , Sylvester Stallone, and John Wayne . He taught numerous actors martial arts and the handling of weapons, e. B. Geena Davis , Michael Douglas , Mel Gibson , Danny Glover , Susan Sarandon , and Kathleen Turner . Bass has made several TV commercials and TV series such as Fantasy Island , MacGyver , Cobra, Take Over , Spaceship Enterprise , The A-Team, and Twilight Zone .

Bass always tried to improve the working conditions and safety facilities for the stuntman when shooting. Bass did this due to two accidents. Once his colleague Heidi von Beltz was paraplegic in a stunt scene and on the other hand he lost his friend Vic Morrow in 1982 .
