Black Pump Industrial Park
The Schwarze Pump industrial park is an industrial area in Brandenburg and Saxony . It is located on the suburbs of the Brandenburg towns of Schwarze Pump and Trattendorf and the suburb of Zerre in Saxony. The industrial park is operated by ASG Spremberg GmbH.
The Schwarze Pump industrial park covers a total area of 720 hectares, 310 hectares belong to the Spreetal municipality in Saxony, where around 80 companies with around 4250 employees have settled. The utilization of the available space is 85% (status: 1st quarter 2012).
history
Originally the historic inn of the Terpe colony belonging to the municipality was called pump Zur black pump . In 1955, the construction of a brown coal refining plant began in the neighboring heathland . From June 1957, the Hoyerswerda -Neustadt prefabricated housing estate was built for its workers as the GDR's second “socialist residential town” . Before that, many of the workers were housed in Residential Camp I, a barracks settlement with laundry, various shops, a kitchen, clubhouse and ambulance. At first it was considered to connect Hoyerswerda with the gas combine approx. 15 km away with a railway line, but then it was decided to transport the workers daily by bus. The plant supplied electricity for the first time in 1959. VEB BMK Coal and Energy played a key role in the construction of the plant .
In 1958 the VEB Gaskombinat Schwarze Pump was formed, and a total of three briquette factories had been built by 1965 . Two of these (Briquette Factory West and East) were demolished after the fall of the Wall , and the Briquette Factory in the Middle still produces briquettes for household and industrial use. The plant also produced town gas and high-temperature lignite coke . There were also three power plants at the site, which generated the electricity for the plant and around 11% of the entire GDR requirement, and the central workshop , which carried out a series of maintenance work, the water management, the company academy, a polyclinic for medical care, the company fire department and the company vocational school . Here were apprentices u. a. trained as maintenance mechanics , machinists, BMSR mechanics and construction workers. There was also a three-year vocational training course with a high school diploma .
The Schwarze Pump gas combine was of crucial importance for the energy supply of the GDR. Around three quarters of the GDR's total city gas requirements were produced here. The importance was also reflected, among other things, by a better supply of food, housing and consumer goods to the cities of Hoyerswerda and Cottbus compared to the GDR. The pay of those employed “in coal” was also higher than the GDR average. In addition, employees received deputation wages . That was 100 quintals of brown coal briquettes a year and two bottles of excise free drinking brandy per month (also known as “ Kumpeltod ”).
The combine also afforded various recreational objects (e.g. Reinsberg Castle near Freiberg in Saxony) and children's holiday camps, etc. a. in Oppach and Rennersdorf (both in Saxony).
From 1980 the combines were newly formed in the GDR. The Schwarze Pump gas combine was one of the largest with a total of around 40,000 employees, including around 15,000 in Schwarze Pump alone. In addition to the main plant in Schwarze Pump, the combine also included: VEB Braunkohleveredlung Espenhain, VEB Braunkohleveredlung Lauchhammer, VEB Steinkohle Kokereien Zwickau, Großgaserei Magdeburg, VEB Verbundnetz Gas Böhlitz-Ehrenberg, VEB PKM Anlagenbau Leipzig and the Freiberg Fuel Institute.
In 1990 the combine was transformed into Energiewerke Schwarze Pump AG (ESPAG). The coking plant , which, in addition to the pressurized gas works, was also known to be the cause of the odor nuisance (“black pump stench”) that could be felt in a wide area, was shut down and demolished in 1992. When one of the three chimneys was blown up, it did not fall as predicted due to a core drilling error, which led to the destruction of the boiler house.
ESPAG was merged into Lausitzer Braunkohle Aktiengesellschaft (LAUBAG) in 1993 . In the same year, the construction of a new power plant , consisting of two blocks with 800 MW each, began by VEAG in Schwarze Pump. The power plant units went into operation in 1997 and 1998, respectively. The brown coal power plant has a total output of 1,600 megawatts . A striking feature of the Schwarze Pump power plant is the 161-meter-high boiler house and thus the third-highest steam generator building in Germany (after Block K of the Niederaussem power plant with 168 m and the two Lippendorfern with 163 m). There is a viewing platform on it. The power plant is now operated by Lausitz Energie Kraftwerke AG , which took it over from the Swedish energy group Vattenfall on September 30, 2016. LEAG also continues to operate large parts of the former central workshop in the industrial park and maintains various devices and rail vehicles there, especially from the open-cast mines belonging to the company.

Battery storage ("BigBattery Lausitz")
On 3 December 2018 was on the in Cottbus took place Barbarafeier announced that the LEAG intended in the area of the industrial park Schwarze Pumpe a battery storage under the project name "BigBattery" with a capacity of 60 MWh to build. The "BigBattery Lausitz" is being built by the Czech company EGEM, based in České Budějovice , which, like LEAG, belongs to the Energeticky-a-Prumyslovy-Holding (EPH) of the entrepreneur Daniel Křetínský . It consists of 13 containers on a total area of 120 by 44 meters. The grid connection is made directly to the 10 kV grid via a grid connection point in the immediate vicinity. No information was given at this press conference about the participation of Siemens in this project. The provisional total costs amount to 25 million euros. The state of Brandenburg is supporting this project with 4 million euros.
On July 9, 2019, in the presence of the Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety Svenja Schulze , the Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy of the State of Brandenburg Jörg Steinbach , the Chairman of the Board of Lausitz Energie Bergbau AG and Lausitz Energie Kraftwerke AG Helmar Rendez and the board member, Hubertus Altmann, responsible for the power plants division, laid the official foundation stone. Furthermore, it became known that the construction of a 10 MW hydrogen storage power plant, as the official name is, under the name “Power to X” is to take place in the Schwarze Pump industrial park.
Briquette factory Schwarze Pump
There is also a briquette factory on site . This belongs to Lausitz Energie Bergbau AG and employs around 200 people. Most of the production takes place in the former briquette factory in the middle of the gas combine, which has been extensively renovated. The other two briquette factories were demolished in the early / mid-1990s. In 2007 approx. 1.3 million tons of dry lignite were produced and marketed.
Black pump produces brown coal dust , fluidized bed coal and briquettes . The briquettes are marketed under the brand name "Lausitzer Rekord ". Both briquettes for house firing and industrial stones for automatic firing systems are produced.
On June 8th, 2009 the foundation stone was laid for the world's largest dust grinding plant after completion. Vattenfall invested 18 million euros for this. Since commissioning in April 2010, it has been possible to generate 88 tonnes of lignite dust per hour.
Low- CO 2 coal-fired power plant
On September 9, 2008, the world's first CO 2 -separating pilot plant was officially put into operation in the Schwarze Pump industrial area in the immediate vicinity of the Schwarze Pump power plant . It was a system with a thermal output of 30 MW, which burns coal with almost pure oxygen and nitrogen-cleaned flue gas according to the so-called oxyfuel process . The resulting carbon dioxide is compressed and liquefied. It should then be pressed into the earth and stored and thus not contribute to global warming . The plant was shut down on September 1, 2014.
KREBA-Fisch GmbH
The Kreba fish GmbH "according to a statement on its website a K onsortium for R eform and e evelopment of B inside fishing and A aquaculture". At the beginning of 2007, KREBA-Fisch GmbH also operates a fish breeding facility at the Schwarze Pump location for the production of nesting carp and nesting sturgeon . As with other resident companies , close cooperation with the neighboring LEAG power plant Schwarze Pump is a prerequisite for successful success. This cooperation is based on the fact that the warm water required for rearing the nesting fish is made available from the power plant process.
Hamburger Rieger GmbH & Co. KG paper mill.
On October 17, 2003, the groundbreaking ceremony took place for the construction of a paper and corrugated cardboard factory in the Schwarze Pumpe industrial park with an investment of around 175 million euros. On October 18, 2005, the official inauguration of the "Hamburger-Spremberg Papierfabrik GmbH und Co. KG" paper mill took place. The steam required for production was initially supplied entirely from the immediately neighboring Vattenfall, now LEAG - Black Pump power plant .
In July 2007, CEO Thomas Prinzhorn announced that, due to ever increasing energy costs, a second paper machine and a separate power station were to be built. The total investment for this should amount to around 400 million euros. With a width of 8 m, the new paper machine was supposed to exceed the current one by 2.70 m. The power plant to be built is to be designed as a substitute fuel power plant ( RDF power plant ) to optimize costs . Around 238,000 tons of processed municipal waste and other non-hazardous waste will serve as fuel per year. To supply the paper machine, a maximum of 75 t / h of process steam can be decoupled with a generated electrical power of approx. 16 MW. If there is a possible increase in steam consumption, the generated electrical power is reduced accordingly. The estimated investment costs for the power plant construction are around 135 million euros.
The commissioning of the power plant, which ran under the project name Ignis , was originally planned for the beginning of 2011, but was then postponed to 2012. On April 29, 2008, the application for approval for the construction of an RDF power plant was submitted. A total of 83 objections were raised against this application, against various concerns. Already on December 17, 2008, the approval for the construction of an RDF power plant was given. On September 1, 2009, a corresponding contract was signed with the company for economic energy supply from Freiburg im Breisgau for the operation of the power plant .
On March 19, 2009, the one millionth ton of paper left the Hamburger-Spremberg GmbH paper factory.
On July 20, 2010, Thomas Prinzhorn announced that the construction site clearance and thus the construction of the RDF power plant for the paper mill had begun. The actual construction phase of the power plant began in September 2010, the foundation stone was laid on November 12, 2010, and commissioning was planned for the end of 2012. The total investment should be 140 million euros. At the same time, he confirmed reports that there will be no second paper machine at the Spremberg location in the next ten years due to the increasingly difficult and cost-intensive procurement of waste paper.
In September 2010, the two German locations in Trostberg and Spremberg merged retroactively to January 1, 2010 under the new name Hamburger Rieger GmbH Co. KG. The new company headquarters are in Spremberg.
On December 1, 2012, after a construction period of 26 months, the first fire was lit in the boiler of the EBS power plant. The first delivery of process steam from the "RDF power plant of Spreerecycling GmbH & Co. KG", the official name, to the paper mill took place on January 10, 2013. "Spreerecycling GmbH & CO. The steam generated in the RDF power plant is fed to a downstream turbine, through which the electrical internal requirements of the power plant and the paper mill will be secured. "Excess" generated electricity is fed into the national grid. When the EBS power plant comes to a standstill, power is supplied from the national grid. Second paper machine
In October 2016 it became known that the Hamburger Rieger GmbH had started planning to build a second paper machine. The total investment is to be 370 million euros, this could be funded with 34 million euros from the fund " Joint Task Improvement of the Regional Economic Structure" (GRW) of the European Union. The construction of the second paper machine would create around 200 new jobs. On March 1, 2018, Cord Prinzhorn, Managing Director of the Prinzhorn Group, confirmed that his company will build the planned paper machine at the Spremberg location and that construction work will begin in March 2018. Due to the parameters of the RDF power plant, it will not be possible to operate the second paper machine that is now planned. In the press publications so far, no statements have been made about how the steam supply to the second paper machine should be carried out.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on September 26, 2018, marking the end of the preparatory work and the beginning of the construction phase. The topping-out ceremony for the second paper machine building was celebrated on August 30, 2019 . This has a length of 400 meters and a height of 28 meters. Around 5,500 tons of steel and 2,700 precast concrete parts were used for this. The cost is 110 million euros.
criticism
In the hearing phase for the construction of the RDF power plant in 2008, the Federation for Environment and Nature Conservation Germany criticized the fact that the exhaust gas cleaning system does not correspond to the state-of-the-art and that cost reduction takes precedence over environmental protection and feasibility.
Black pump recycling center for secondary raw materials
In 1995, the secondary raw material recycling center Schwarze Pump GmbH (SVZ) was founded from the Lausitz mining management company. This is where waste is recycled, especially sewage sludge , to synthesis gas and methanol . In 2004 the SVZ filed for bankruptcy. In September 2005 it was sold to Sustec Schwarze Pump GmbH , a subsidiary of the Swiss Sustec Industries AG , and thus continued operation for the time being. In June 2007, Sustec announced that it was withdrawing from the waste business because the acceptance proceeds for waste were too low and the energy costs for oil and gas were too high. A medium-term plan provides for the further production of synthesis gas and methanol, albeit from lignite dust.
In June 2008, Sustec sold its closed syngas power plant in Schwarze Pump to the Swiss company ATEL Holdings AG. This plans to convert the power plant to operation with natural gas with an output of 56 MW.
On January 1, 2010, insolvency proceedings were opened against the assets of Sustec Schwarze Pump GmbH .
Pilot plant - pressurized steam fluidized bed drying (DDWT)
Vattenfall Europe Mining & Generation built a test facility for the pressurized steam fluidized bed drying of raw lignite at the Schwarze Pump location with an investment of around 6.5 million euros . The pilot plant started trial operation in the 3rd quarter of 2008 and is expected to provide information on the effective pre-drying of raw lignite for around two years. This should make it possible to increase the efficiency of power plants by almost 48%. Due to the pre-drying of coal, current technical solutions for steam generators would be superfluous. In the test facility, raw lignite, which is delivered with a water content of around 55–60%, is to be pre-dried to a residual moisture content of around 15%. The official commissioning of this plant took place on December 7, 2008.
On February 12, 2013, the DDWT plant went into continuous operation. It is now able to process almost 10 tons of raw lignite per hour. For the time being, these (small) quantities will still be used for the production of coal dust and briquettes at the Schwarze Pump location. In the long term, there are plans to build plants that can process 100 t / h and can therefore also be used on a large scale in power plants. In the third quarter of 2017, the plant was taken out of service and shut down for the time being.
Corrugated cardboard plant Mosburger-Corrugated
Mosburger Corrugated's corrugated cardboard plant produces around 250,000 m² of corrugated cardboard every day , which requires around 100 tonnes of waste paper. Production started on September 27, 2005. The production process takes place in close cooperation with the neighboring paper mill Hamburger-Spremberg GmbH, from which large quantities of paper are obtained for the manufacture of the cardboard. The main products are corrugated cardboard sheets and corrugated cardboard packaging.
The corrugated board factory is not supplied with the required process steam from the RDF power plant, but continues to draw it from the neighboring LEAG power plant Schwarze Pump.
