The castle Kerkingen is an Outbound medieval moated castle in the village Kerkingen , a district of Bopfingen in Ostalbkreis in Baden-Württemberg .
location
Various sources indicate the location either northwest or south of the church. However, the location northwest of the church is clearly recognizable on the topographic map of the regional surveying office from 1944.
history
From 1272 to 1378 the castle was the seat of the local nobles von Kerkingen .
In 1950, when the rectory was built, the square 16 by 16 meter castle hill with a 10 meter wide moat was leveled and filled in.
