NN . In the north the side blade of the short Egentalbach flanks the spur, in the south another right tributary of the river has cleared another valley book; A short valley runs towards this from the northwest, which almost completely separates the front spur with the castle location from the rear Ochsenberg. The triangular plateau isolated in this way is about 3 hectares in size.
history
The castle was built around 1250 and was the ancestral seat of the Lords of Degenfeld , who named themselves after the place. In 1281 a Hermann von Degenfeld is mentioned for the first time, who was probably the progenitor of the Counts of Degenfeld. The Degenfeld took Hoheneybach Castle as their new headquarters in the 15th century . After Christoph von Degenfeld († 1604) also acquired property in Neuhaus and Ehrstädt Castle in the late 16th century , he sold Degenfeld Castle to the dukes of Württemberg in 1597. In 1811 the castle was demolished.
