The castle Röhlingen is an Outbound castle in the district Röhlingen the city Ellwangen in Ostalbkreis in Baden-Württemberg .
history
The medieval castle, probably built on the remains of a Roman building, was the ancestral seat of the Lords of Röhlingen . These are mentioned in a document from 1167 to the 15th century. It is likely that this local nobility was a ministerial family of the Ellwangen monastery . The coat of arms of the village of Röhlingen is based on the coat of arms of those of Röhlingen, the Lords of Killingen , based at Killingen Castle , had the same coat of arms.
