The castle Pfahlheim is an Outbound castle in the district Pfahlheim the city Ellwangen in Ostalbkreis in Baden-Württemberg .

history

The castle, probably built on the remains of a Roman building, was the ancestral seat of the local nobility, the lords of Pfahlheim , which can be documented from 1218 to 1504 . These were knightly ministers of the Ellwangen Monastery , Rudolf von Pfahlheim was Abbot of Ellwangen from 1311 to 1332.

The Pfahlheimers had possessions except in Pfahlheim in Beerhalden , Beersbach , Buch , Dettenroden , Elberschwend , Erpfental , Georgenstadt , Gromberg , Haselbach , Hirlbach , Lauchheim , Lippach , Neunstadt , Röhlingen , Rötlen , Steigberg , Unterschneidheim , Dambach , Hardt , Kraßbronn , Nordhausen , Sechtenhausen and Walxheim . The bailiwick of Ellwangen was pledged to members of the family in the 14th century.

The castle Roden was in 1354 in the possession of the Knight Rudolf von Pfahlheim, but these he sold in 1369 to the foxes of Zipplingen . Konrad von Pfahlheim owned the front half of Wasseralfingen Castle for several years in the 15th century . In 1380 there was an Albrecht von Pfahlheim at Hirschberg .
