The castle Schwabsberg is an Outbound hill fort on a promontory above the Jagsttal at Schwabsberg , in the municipality of Rainau in Ostalbkreis in Baden-Württemberg .
history
The castle was the seat of the local noble family of the Knights of Schwabsberg , who were mentioned for the first time in 1147. These were Ellwangian ministerials , later also Truchsessen . The Schwabsberg coat of arms showed in the (blue) shield an erect (golden) lion, on the left side by a (silver) stag pole; Helmet small a (right blue, left white) deer antlers. This coat of arms was the coat of arms of the community Schwabsberg until the foundation of the community Rainau. Today's coat of arms of Rainau is based on the Schwabsberg coat of arms.
