Burgstall Aalen

The Burgstall Aalen refers to an abandoned medieval hilltop castle near Aalen about 1000 meters southeast of the Aalen fort on a mountain tongue in the Ostalbkreis in Baden-Württemberg .

In 1136 the castle was mentioned with the local nobility of the village of Aalen , the Lords of Aalen, and, like the village, was destroyed in the war against Bavaria in 1388 ( City War 1387-1389 ). Remnants of walls are still preserved from the approximately 50-meter-long castle complex, which is now a freely accessible ground monument .
