Fachsenfeld Castle

Fachsenfeld Castle is a 16th century castle in the Aalen district of Fachsenfeld in the Ostalb district .

history

Since the beginning of the 15th century, the barons of Woellwarth-Laubach have been handed down as the owners of Fachsenfeld and the town of Waiblingen, which today belongs to Fachsenfeld . Georg Siegmund von Woellwarth had a larger building, a farm, built in Fachsenfeld in 1540, which his son Hans Siegmund von Woellwarth had converted into a castle.

During the Thirty Years' War Kaspar von Woellwarth lost the castle in 1634 to the high and German master Johann Kaspar von Stadion , but received it back four years later. The castle burned down on Christmas 1699. At the beginning of the 19th century, the property passed into the possession of Karl von Varnbüler , who sold it to Wilhelm von König-Warthausen in 1827 .

In 1828 a classicist country palace was built under Wilhelm von König-Warthausen, to which a belvedere was added in 1839 . Today's park was also built under the König-Fachsenfeld. Around 1900 the library and gallery were expanded according to plans by André Lambert .

In 1982 Baron Reinhard von Koenig-Fachsenfeld established a foundation to preserve the palace and the park. Today the castle houses the collections of Reinhard von Koenig-Fachsenfeld and a museum .
