The Burgweiler is an Outbound lowland castle in Weiler , a district of Dalkingen in the municipality Rainau in Ostalbkreis in Baden-Württemberg .

history

The castle square at the southeast end of the village, also called Burstel ( castle hill ), had a ring moat , which was partially protected by another pre- moat . Not much is known about the castle. It is believed that it was the ancestral seat of the Lords of Weiler , who are known from the first half of the 13th century. Your coat of arms is described as "a shield divided twice by red over silver over blue", which applies to the current coat of arms of the village of Dalkingen. 1414 another Rudolf von Weiler is mentioned. With Hans the Elder of Ahelfingen (around 1478) a new rule emerged at the end of the 15th century and died out again with Wolf von Ahelfingen in 1545. On January 11, 1557, the count brothers Sebastian and Ulrich von Helfenstein officially sell the local property and the noble property known as the Burgstall (small castle) to the Dinkelsbühl Alms-Manage .
