Burgstall Kaibitz

The Kaibitz castle stable is located in the Kaibitz district of the Upper Palatinate town of Kemnath in the Tirschenreuth district (about 350 m north-northwest of Kaibitz Castle on the eastern slope of a hill above the Fallbach valley).

It is possible that the Burgstall was a predecessor of Kaibitz Castle, which appeared in the Leuchtenberger Lehenbuch from 1400 onwards.

The Burgstall consists of a small island (12 × 12 m) that lies in a semicircular circle. The island is half a meter high and has a listed neo-Gothic Lady Chapel from 1822. The pond is built on a slope and is therefore surrounded by a high dam in the north, east and south. The pond is fed by a slope spring, the water of which then flows through the channel into the Mühlkanal. The island is connected to the surrounding area by a 7 m long bridge made of rubble stones .
