The listed Trautenberg Castle is located in the district of the same name in the Upper Palatinate municipality of Krummennaab in the Tirschenreuth district (Trautenberg 4 and 5).

history

In Trautenberg, a Marquardus de Trutenberg is mentioned for the first time in 1244 as a witness in a certificate of the Leuchtenbergers , who was perhaps the builder of Trautenberg Castle . This castle came into the hands of Hans von der Grün around 1599 ; this family remained in the possession of Trautenberg until 1652. The margravial fiefdom of Trautenberg is then handed over to Hans Heinrich von Rabenstein . In 1690 it fell to Hans Wilhelm von Hirschberg . The Hirschberg family held Trautenberg until 1840. The bourgeois Schneid and Schmid followed . In 1890 the family of the Barons von Lindenfels became the local owners.

Trautenberg Castle was on a narrow rock spur and it was not possible to expand it any further. That is why Trautenberg Castle was built below the castle by Hanns Georg von der Grün in 1608 . In the 18th and 19th centuries as well as in 1933 extensions and renovations took place.

Trautenberg Castle today

The castle is located southeast of the Heinbach directly next to the Weiden – Oberkotzau railway line . The complex consists of the former castle and several utility buildings that are loosely grouped around an inner courtyard. The castle in need of renovation is a two-storey, plastered solid building with a hipped roof and a dwelling with a stuccoed gable. In essence, it goes back to 1608. The current exterior was designed in the 18th and 19th centuries and then in 1933. In front of the castle is a green courtyard area around which various buildings are located. The utility building is a two-story, plastered solid building with a gable roof from the 18th and 19th centuries. On it is a coat of arms from the previous building, labeled “1615” and “1769”, partly renewed in 1933.
