The castle was first mentioned in 1337 as a property of the Trautenberg family . In 1602 it passed to Georg Friedrich von Unruh by marriage and passed to the related Sparnecker family . In the time of the family of Sparneck in Reuth (1628-1744), the founding of fell Schloßbrauerei Reuth 1742. From the tradition of brewing right in the form of a brewery was built in 1742, a commercial operation. Location and appearance

The castle stands on the western edge of the village of Reuth on a spur protruding into the Heinbach valley. Reuth Castle, which was plundered and destroyed by the Bohemian nobleman Hynko Kruschina von Schwanberg in 1439, was located in the same place .

The castle was rebuilt several times, enlarged around 1550, restored around 1671 and rebuilt around 1800. New buildings were built between 1905 and 1906, including today's round tower. Reuth Castle is now a two-storey complex with a domed round tower.
