The Capio Group was founded in 1994. Capio operates around 180 facilities with around 12,500 employees at 60 locations in Sweden , Norway , Denmark , France and Germany .
Capio was listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange until 2006. On November 2, 2006, the companies Apax Europe Funds (45%), Apax France Funds (11%) and Nordic Capital Fund VI (44%) took over the company shares of Capio AB. It was subsequently removed from trading on November 17, 2006. Apax Partners and Nordic Capital are fund companies with many years of successful experience in investment management in healthcare companies.
Capio AB was listed on the Nasdaq Stockholm Stock Exchange on June 30, 2015. Four institutional investors, Fourth Swedish National Pension Fund, R12 Kapital AB, Swedbank Robur Fonder and Handelsbanken Fonder are the main investors.

Deutsche Klinik GmbH was founded in Bad Brückenau in 1979 . Initially, the company was active in hospital consulting. Since 1996, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities and care centers have either been owned or managed as Capio Deutsche Klinik GmbH.
