Carole Bayer Sager
Carole Bayer Sager (born March 8, 1944 in New York ) is an American songwriter , composer and singer .
life and career
Carole Bayer Sager was born in New York in 1944. She studied acting and piano at the New York City High School of Music and Art. During this time, she and Toni Wine composed A Groovy Kind of Love , with which The Mindbenders landed a world hit in 1966. She later graduated from New York University .
Her first recording as a singer was in 1977 entitled You're Moving Out Today , which she wrote with Bette Midler and which also became a hit.
Also in 1977 she wrote the song Nobody Does It Better for the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me , Marvin Hamlisch composed the music; this title was nominated for an Oscar and was a huge success for singer Carly Simon .
In 1982, Carole Bayer Sager received an Oscar ( best song ) and a Golden Globe ( best movie song ) together with Burt Bacharach , Peter Allen and Christopher Cross for the theme song for Arthur - No Child of Sadness . In 1987 she and Bacharach were awarded a Grammy for That's What Friends Are For (Song of the Year), in 1999 with another film song Golden Globe for The Prayer (from The Magic Sword - The Legend of Camelot ), and in 2007 with a Satellite Award for the theme song to Grace is Gone . She was nominated seven more times for the Golden Globe, five more times for the Oscar, two more times for the Grammy, one more time for the Satellite Award, once for the Emmy .
In 1986, Sager and Bacharach's On My Own , originally written for Dionne Warwick , became a number one hit in the US and Canada as played by Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald .
After the death of Casablanca Manager Neil Bogart in 1982 Bayer Sager founded together with his widow Joyce 1984 Foundation "Neil Bogart Memorial Fund", which is now "The Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program" is. She is a member of the Foundation's Board of Directors .
Private life
Carole Bayer Sager was married to Andrew Sager from 1970 to 1978. From 1982 to 1991 she was married to Burt Bacharach , who adopted a son. Today she is married to Robert A. Daly, the former director of the Warner Music Group . She lives in Los Angeles , California .
