Chor ( Russian Хор ) is an urban-type settlement in the Khabarovsk region ( Russia ) with 10,346 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The settlement is located in the Ussuri lowlands in the Far East of Russia on the right bank of the Ussuri tributary of the same name, the Chor , about 80 kilometers south of the regional capital, Khabarovsk .

Chor belongs to the Rajons Laso (imeni Laso) and is located twelve kilometers in a south-westerly direction from its administrative center Perejaslawka .

history

The place was created at the end of the 19th century in connection with the construction of the Ussuri Railway from Khabarovsk to Vladivostok , now part of the Trans-Siberian Railway . One of the most important bridges of this section of the route was built here over the river Chor, after which the place was named.

Chor quickly developed into a center of forestry and received urban-type settlement status in 1938 .

Economy and Infrastructure

The main branches of industry are forestry. There are also companies in the construction and food industries; Agriculture is practiced in the lower part of the choir.

Chor is located on the Trans-Siberian Railway (8603 km from Moscow ). On an approximately 15 kilometer long section around the choir, there is a later built parallel route, which bypasses the settlement to the east and crosses the choir about six kilometers above the village and the original route.

The M60 "Ussuri" road from Khabarovsk to Vladivostok also runs through the village .
