Colmars , also called Colmars-les-Alpes ( Còumars in Provencal ), is a French commune with 496 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the canton of Castellane in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department . The mountain village is located at 1250  m on the Haut Verdon, on the south ramp of the Col d'Allos and at the foot of the Col des Champs . It has a well-preserved curtain wall and two fortresses built by Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban .
