The Cross Insurance Arena is a multi-purpose arena in the US city of Portland in the state of Maine . It is owned by Cumberland County . 2014 was insurance companies Cross Insurance for ten years and each year 250,000 US dollars title sponsor . Until then it was called the Cumberland County Civic Center . From 2012 to 2014 the arena was extensively renovated for 33 million US dollars.

The Cross Insurance Arena was the home of the Portland Pirates' ice hockey team from 1994 to 2016 . It used to be the home ground of the Maine Mariners of the American Hockey League (AHL). From the 2018/19 season , the newly founded Maine Mariners team of ECHL will use the hall as their home ground. Also in 2018, the Maine Mammoths arena football team from the National Arena League (NAL), founded in 2017, will start playing in the arena.
In 2010 the AHL All-Star Classic took place between the Canadian All-Stars and PlanetUSA. The Canadian All-Stars won 10: 9 ( shootout ).
The arena is used for numerous other events such as concerts and sporting events such as basketball and wrestling . The first concert in the hall was opening on March 3, 1977, the American blues rock - band ZZ Top . The Harlem Globetrotters have performed several times for basketball show games in the arena. Several World Wrestling Entertainment competitions have also taken place in the Civic Center.
