successor Daihatsu Materia

The minivan Daihatsu YRV was produced from August 2000 to July 2005 based on the small car Sirion .

The 3.77 meter long and exclusively available as a five-door car had a rear bench seat that could be longitudinally displaced by 15 centimeters in the higher-quality versions CXL and CXS. The YRV was powered either by a one-liter three-cylinder or a 1.3-liter four-cylinder in suction or turbo version; a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic transmission took over the power transmission to the front wheels. All-wheel drive was available on request.

Production was stopped in summer 2005. In May 2006 (Japan) and March 2007 (Germany), Daihatsu launched the Daihatsu Materia model as a successor .

Sale in Germany

In Germany the YRV was unsuccessful. Daihatsu originally wanted to sell 5,000 vehicles per year here, but this sales target was never achieved.

The annual new registrations of Daihatsu YRV in Germany are listed according to statistics from the Federal Motor Transport Authority . From 2000 to 2006 a total of 4767 YRVs were newly registered.

The bestseller among all engines was the 1.3 liter naturally aspirated engine with 87 hp. This engine has been sold over 4000 times. The 1.3-liter turbo (called "GTti" in Germany and Austria), on the other hand, was only imported 150 times, of which exactly 136 copies were registered by January 1, 2006, according to the KBA. The external distinguishing feature of the GTti was an air scoop on the bonnet, below which the intercooler was placed.

The GTti was only available in yellow and silver, as well as some special models in black. Otherwise, the YRV was also available in Mars red, white, Caribbean blue metallic and silver rose metallic.
