In Japan, the minivan came onto the market in March 2007 as Daihatsu Materia and identically constructed as Toyota bB . At the end of 2008, the Subaru Dex , which was also identical, followed in Japan . The Coo / Materia is to be regarded as the successor to the Daihatsu YRV .
The car is based on the Daihatsu Boon with a length of 3800 mm, a width of 1690 mm and a height of 1635 mm. The wheelbase is 2540 mm. This makes the vehicle shorter than a fourth generation VW Polo (3916 mm), but approx. 17 centimeters higher.
It offers space for five people, has a rear bench seat that can be moved lengthways by 16 centimeters, folding front seats and extensive standard equipment with aluminum wheels, air conditioning, CD radio, electrically adjustable exterior mirrors and electric window regulators front and rear. The basic version of the small car van is powered by a 1.3-liter gasoline engine with 67 kW (91 hp). Alternatively, there was a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 76 kW (103 hp); All-wheel drive was also available in conjunction with this unit . Prices started at 15,490 euros (as of June 2009) for the Materia 1.3.
In September 2010, the import of the materia to Europe was stopped due to lack of success.
