The Daihatsu Charade is a small car from the Japanese manufacturer Daihatsu , which was launched in Germany on May 28, 2011. It was only offered in Europe in countries with right-hand traffic, as no version was produced for left-hand traffic . The model was only available with a five-door hatchback. Production was stopped in 2013.

A few weeks after Daihatsu announced that it would withdraw from the European market by the beginning of 2013, the Charade was presented as the last new model from this brand in Europe .

This is a slightly modified version of the second generation Toyota Yaris, which expired in autumn 2011 . Like the European Yaris , the Charade was manufactured in the factory of Toyota Motor Manufacturing France SAS . The Daihatsu brand, which was recently flagging in Europe, should gain momentum again before its withdrawal.

Furnishing

The Charade is available in two equipment lines, Basic and Top . In the basic version, all vehicles are equipped with driver, passenger, side, head and knee airbags as well as 3-point automatic belts at the front. In addition, the electronic stability program VSC with traction control TRC is standard on board. A CD radio with six speakers is also part of the standard equipment, as is air conditioning, folding rear seats, power steering, a rear bench that can be moved by 15 cm and central locking. The Charade also has electrically adjustable exterior mirrors and halogen headlights.

The upscale equipment variant Top also offers fog lights, power windows at the rear, automatic air conditioning and tinted windows from the B-pillar.

The Charade is delivered in a standard red uni paint finish. On request, there is a choice of three pearl effect metallic paints in the colors silver, champagne and black.

Technical specifications

The Charade is only offered with a transversely installed 1.33 liter inline four-cylinder gasoline engine with two overhead camshafts and 16 valves. The maximum output is 73 kW (99 PS), the maximum torque is specified as 128 Nm at 3800 rpm.

The vehicle has front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission as standard. The automated six-speed manual transmission Multi-Mode is also available on request .

The front wheels are individually suspended on MacPherson struts and wishbones, and there is a torsion beam at the rear . An anti-lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution is also standard . Internally ventilated disc brakes are installed in the front and massive disc brakes on the rear wheels.
