The Daihatsu Taft , also known as the Daihatsu Wildcat for export , or known in some countries as the Daihatsu F-Series or Daihatsu 1600 through third-party production , is an off-road vehicle from the Japanese automobile brand Daihatsu .

history

The car was built from 1974 to 1984 and was the first Daihatsu vehicle to be sold in Germany.

The Taft was offered with a four-speed gearbox in the variants F10 (F10L with concealed doors, F10LV with metal doors) with a gasoline engine , 45 hp (33 kW) and 1.0 liter displacement, F20 (F20L with concealed doors, F20LV with metal doors) with 1.6 Liter displacement and 66 HP (49 kW), F50 (F50L with concealed doors, F50LV with metal doors) with naturally aspirated diesel with 61 HP (45 kW) and 2.5 liter cubic capacity and as F60 (F60L with concealed doors, F60LV with metal doors) with 2, 8 liter naturally aspirated diesel and 69 hp (51 kW). The 1.6 liter gasoline engine and both naturally aspirated diesel engines were also offered with a five-speed manual gearbox. The designation changed to F25, F55 and F65.

Like many older off-road vehicles, the Taft has rigid axles on leaf springs at the front and rear, switchable all-wheel drive without center differential and an off-road reduction. The axle differentials cannot be locked.

From 1980 the model was also produced as Toyota Blizzard . In 1984 the taffeta was replaced by the Daihatsu Rocky . The name Taft was used in some markets until 2007.

In Austria, the taffeta had the model name Daihatsu Pionier .
