The Daihatsu Mira e: S (Japanese: ミ ラ イ ー ス; Miraīsu) is a small car that Daihatsu produces at the Kyushu plant in Nakatsu and has been part of the Japanese kei car class since 2011 . It is based on the Daihatsu Mira five-door, but has its own body and interior. The name is shortened from E & CO s which translated means ecology and economy. Therefore, the Miraisu is based on the growing environmental awareness in recent years and the desire for lower vehicle prices.
The 658 cm³ gasoline engine known from the Mira and other models received a higher compression ratio and the injectors were improved. The output is 38 kW (52 hp) at 6800 rpm. Electronic throttle control increases fuel efficiency and lowers emissions depending on driving conditions. A CVT gearbox coordinated with a high-performance oil pump also ensures lower fuel consumption, as does the weight-reduced interior. Compared to the Mira, this resulted in a weight reduction of around 60 kg. By changing the ground, the air resistance was also reduced, which also improved the front braking performance.
The Mira e: S is also the first car with a CVT transmission to have a start-stop system . Optionally, is all-wheel drive in addition to the basic front-wheel drive available.
Since 2012, the Mira e: S has also been offered by the parent company Toyota using badge engineering as the Toyota Pixis Epoch .
