David "Dave" Steckel (born March 15, 1982 in West Bend , Wisconsin ) is an American ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with the Nuremberg Ice Tigers from the German Ice Hockey League . Previously, the disputed Center over 450 games in the National Hockey League for the Washington Capitals , New Jersey Devils , Toronto Maple Leafs and Anaheim Ducks .
Career
The 1.98 m tall center began his career in the US youth national team development program, during his college days he played for Ohio State University in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's game operations . In the 2001 NHL Entry Draft , the left-handed shooter was finally selected as 30th in the first round by the Los Angeles Kings .
Before he was transferred to the Washington Capitals, Steckel played for the Manchester Monarchs , a farm team of the Los Angeles Kings in the American Hockey League . His first NHL missions completed the attacker in the 2005/06 season , the rest of the time he was used by the Capitals with the Hershey Bears in the AHL.
From the 2007/08 season , Dave Steckel was a permanent member of the Washington Capitals , before being handed over to the New Jersey Devils in a transfer deal for Jason Arnott at the end of February 2011, shortly before the trade deadline . This transferred him to the Toronto Maple Leafs shortly before the start of the 2011/12 season . On March 15, 2013 he was given to the Anaheim Ducks , which in exchange sent the right winger Ryan Lasch and a seven-round vote in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft to Toronto.
In the 2014/15 season he played for the Norfolk Admirals in the AHL and acted as team captain. The following season he moved to the Nuremberg Ice Tigers in the German Ice Hockey League . In March 2016, his contract was prematurely extended until the end of the 2016/17 season.
