Davinson Sánchez Mina (born June 12, 1996 in Caloto ) is a Colombian football player who is primarily used in the position of central defender . He has been on the Tottenham Hotspur squad since the 2017/18 season .

Club career

Davinso Sánchez played in youth teams of the Colombian club América de Cali , but switched to the top Colombian team Atlético Nacional from Medellín , where he was formed under Juan Carlos Osorio . His first appearances as a professional footballer he completed in 2013. By 2016 he had 26 league games for Nacional. With Nacional, Sánchez won the Copa Libertadores 2016 , four Colombian championships, two cup wins and a Supercup.

Ajax Amsterdam signed him in the summer of 2016, where he signed a contract until June 30, 2021. Sánchez made his debut in the Eredivisie on August 13, 2016 against Roda JC . With Ajax, Sánchez reached the final of the 2016/17 UEFA Europa League and was runner-up in the 2016/17 Eredivisie .

In August 2017, Sánchez moved to Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League for a transfer fee of around 40 million euros .

National team career

Davinson Sánchez played for various Colombian junior national teams. With the U-20 national team of Colombia , he finished second in the U-20 South American Football Championship in 2015 and took part in the U-20 World Cup in New Zealand in 2015 . In 2016 he played for the Colombian national soccer team for the first time and was used in a total of four qualifying matches for the 2018 World Cup .

He was part of the Colombian squad at the 2018 World Cup in Russia . He was used in all four games and was eliminated with the team in the round of 16 against England on penalties.
